Firelands is located in the southern portion of Mount Hyjal. It is located on a small island that is completely surrounded by lava. As such, a flying mount is required in order to reach it.
There are a few fights here that will be almost impossible if you do not know the mechanics of the fight. Beth’tilac, Shannox and Alysrazor will require that you have at least a small understanding of how the fight works. They are all fairly easy so long as you are aware.
I would recommend this raid be among the first you consider.
Firelands (25H) Summary
- Fastest Travel Time: ~3 minutes
- Alliance Travel Time: ~10 minutes
- Horde Travel Time: ~5 minutes
- Estimated Clear Time: ~40 minutes
- Approximate Gold: ~2,300g
- Overall Difficulty: Easy
BOTH: If you have access to it, the fastest way is to take the portal to Mount Hyjal from your main capital city. If you don’t have access to that, but are a druid, Teleport: Moonglade will bring you very close to Mount Hyjal as well.
ALLIANCE: From Stormwind, take the boat to Rut’Theran Village. From there take the flight path to Sanctuary of Malorne, then fly the rest of the way.
HORDE: From Orgrimmar, take the flight path to Sanctuary of Malorne, then fly the rest of the way.
TIP: You can use mounts for the majority of this raid to speed up your clear time. Mounts are usable until after the defeat of Majordomo Staghelm and entering the building behind him.
Farming Trash Mobs
- Estimated Clear Time: ~60 minutes
- Approximate Gold: ~4000g
- Overall Difficulty: Very Easy
IMPORTANT: The amount of gold that can be earned by this method varies significantly between realms. This method makes gold utilizing the Auction House and every realm has different prices.
With the potion active, choose a mount and run though all the mobs that you can see in order to get them all to follow you. Stop and AoE them down once you are satisfied with the number of enemies following you. Repeat this as necessary until the majority of the enemies have been killed and looted. Exit the raid, reset your instances and do it again.
Because of the amount of time it takes to round up and kill all the enemies within the raid it is unlikely that you will run into the limit on resetting your instances. You should, at least in theory, be able to continue with this farm indefinitely.
A word of caution, try to avoid the turtles and the core hounds. The turtles will knock you backwards and the hounds will stun you, both of these can cost you some time. Killing these adds will also allow Shannox to begin his rounds of the raid. Avoid him at all costs. Killing him will stop
Difficulty : Easy
Start the fight by attacking Beth’tilac. She will immediately retreat to the top of her molten web. You can’t hit her from the ground but six Cinderweb Spinners will descend from the web. Kill one and use the string that it drops to get to the top of the web.
There are two things to watch out for on top of the web. First, avoid the hole in the middle or you will fall to the ground. Second, keep your eyes open for where meteors crash into the web. A small ring of fire will appear and if you are standing in that ring you can fall to the ground.
To make the fight easier, keep her health above 10% until Beth’tilac begins to cast Smoldering Devastation. Activate all your cooldowns once the spell begins and you should be able to down her without much trouble.
When Beth’tilac drops below 10% health she will try to drop to the ground below. She will heal by eating any Cinderweb Spinners that are around. If you land you will be hit with Fiery Web which will stun you for 20 seconds and will constantly be reapplied after it wears off.
You will also have to deal with the Engorged Broodling. They will walk towards you and explode, doing a minor amount of damage. The real threat comes from the Volatile Poison they leave on the ground after they explode. It will constantly damage you and there is little chance to move out of it.
Difficulty : Very Easy
Lord Rhyolith is very simple. Attack either of his legs until his health falls to 20%. He will fall to the ground and his armor will shatter. All you have to do is finish him off. Throughout the match adds will spawn, they are very easy to kill and pose no threat. Small volcanoes will also spawn. They should pose no threat to you but it is worth mentioning that if Lord Rhyolith walks near them you will do more damage to him.
After you have defeated Lord Rhyolith head back down the hill and enter the small area to your right.
Difficulty : Easy
As a melee character you must grab three of these feathers. This will allow you to fly and follow Alysrazor as she circles the area. Be sure to fly through the rings that appear behind her or your flight will expire. Unless you have a way to reduce or prevent fall damage this will likely kill you.
As a ranged character you can choose to stay on the ground. You will be able to hit Alysrazor so long as you turn and follow her movements as she circles the room. However there will be adds spawning on the ground and four Lava Worms will begin shooting fire and rotating. They will make the fight very difficult unless you have a high item level.
It may be better to follow Alysrazor into the air and stay around the center of the area, only moving to fly through a ring before your buff expires and you fall. This will make the fight take much longer but will reduce the amount of incoming damage you will have to deal with.
Ultimately I decided to go on the hunt for gear with Leech. This fight was just way too much of a hassle without it. I got up to 8.9% Leech and easily brought Alysrazor down by simply standing in the center of the ground and healing through all the incoming damage. Go fight Supreme Lord Kazzak, if you can, and try to get a Mark of Supreme Doom. The Leech that this single trinket gives is insane and every class can equip it.
Notable Loot: Alysrazor has a 2% chance of dropping a mount, Flametalon of Alysrazor. This mount drops in 10 or 25, Normal or Heroic.
Difficulty : Easy
The first and most important thing to do is deal with his dog Rageface. Rageface will stun you for up to 30 seconds, doing increasing damage the longer it goes on. The general strategy to deal with him is throw on some powerful dots and ignore him. If you have a pet you can also have the pet attack him and it will interrupt him. Be aware that killing Rageface or Riplimb will give Shannox a buff that increases his damage and attack speed by 30%. This can stack twice, up to 60% if both dogs are killed.
Shannox will add a stacking debuff to you with every attack: Jagged Tear. It does 1,700 physical damage every 3 seconds. Nothing to worry about at a low stack number but if it get’s too high it will quickly take away all of your health. It’s important that you do not let this fight go on for too long.
If you do not have a pet this is all you will have to deal with and the fight will be very simple. However, if you DO have a pet Shannox will place a Crystal Prison Trap that will permanently stun you. You must either step away from the trap before it activates or command your pet to destroy it once you are trapped. Either option will work.
With Shannox defeated, head through the gate towards Baleroc.
Difficulty : Easy
However, if he uses Inferno Blade instead you shouldn’t have much to worry about. The damage bonus that he gets from it is much smaller than Decimation Blade. It would still be a good idea to try and limit the number of hits you take if you have low armor but it is nowhere near as big of a threat.
Walk forward after Baleroc falls and activate the orb by the cliff. Cross the bridge after it forms.
Difficulty : Easy
- He will leave a pool of fire where he landed that will do a small amount of fire damage every 0.5 seconds. These pools of fire will not be too much of an issue so long as you don’t let too many build in the same spot.
- A Spirit of the Flame will spawn and attack you. They are very weak and will easily fall to a few AoE attacks. They should not be an issue at all.
- He will gain a stack of Adrenaline. This increases his energy regeneration by 20% for each stack. This means that if the fight goes on for too long he will eventually be gaining energy as fast as he can spend it and you may have to keep moving to avoid getting overrun by the pools of fire.
Even with this going on at once Majordomo is a very easy fight that should not give you too much trouble. After he has been defeated continue inside the room and follow the path, killing the few adds, and you will come to a large room with a pool of lava in the center. Approach the lava and the fight with Ragnaros will begin.
Difficulty : Easy
When Ragnaros reaches 70% health he will cast Splitting Blow and disappear. Any DoTs still on him will continue to do damage though, so refresh them before he disappears. There is no need to attack the adds that spawn, they can safely be ignored. They will move towards Sulfuras and explode, dealing minor damage to you.
When Ragnaros reaches 40% health he will cast Splitting Blow again. This time he will summon two Lava Scion. They can also be ignored if you wish but they will not follow the other adds to explode at Sulfuras. They will continue through the rest of the fight if they are not killed. I would suggest killing them in order to ensure that incoming damage is manageable.
When Ragnaros reaches 0% health he will retreat into the lava. The NPCs behind you will force him back into the fight and the lava will harden into rock. His health will be restored to 40%. At this point there are two abilities to note.
Superheated will slowly stack on you. It does a small amount of damage but increases the damage that you take from Superheated by 10% per stack. Although it should not be an issue this ability will become lethal if the fight takes too long.
Empower Sulfuras will allow Ragnaros to do a significant amount of fire damage with every melee attack. This effect does not expire so it is wise to save all your cooldowns for the last phase and wait until you see him beginning to cast this move.
Notable Loot: Ragnaros has a 1% chance of dropping a mount, Smoldering Egg of Millagazor. This mount drops in 10 or 25, Normal or Heroic.
